Clean Energy: Solar Power
The sun, an almost perfect sphere made up of hot gases and other elements that conduct energy to power homes and businesses. Solar panels capture the clean, reliable resources of the sun’s light rays producing an adequate amount of power, with minimal downfalls. Solar energy is also the most clean and effective way to produce energy. Solar energy is produced using mirrors to reflect and concentrate sunlight onto receivers that collect the solar energy and convert it into heat. This thermal energy is then used to produce electricity. Using solar energy produces no air or water pollution and no greenhouse gases. Solar energy is predictable and is most efficient when utility rates are the highest.
The Capturing of Sunlight is Simple, yet Effective
-
New material can also withstand temperatures greater than 700 degrees Celsius and survive many years outdoors in spite of exposure to air and humidity.
-
By contrast, current solar absorber material functions at lower temperatures and needs to be overhauled almost every year for high temperature operations.

Solar Power is Clean and Offers Jobs Across the Nation
Most renewable energy comes either directly or indirectly from the sun. Solar energy can be used for:
- Generating electricity
- Hot water heating and solar cooling
According to Clean Line Energy Partners (2015) in the article “Why Renewable Energy” “Solar energy is produced when the sun is shining during the day and is complementary to wind energy, which tends to reach its highest production at night.”
The Effects of Solar Power are Continually Benefiting the Environment
Throughout my research on solar energy I consistently came across these benefits of solar power:
- Reduces pollution
- Stabilize economy
- Increase home safety
- Populate remote locations
- Passive use
- Health benefits
Solar energy has come a long ways and is still trying to make a name for itself. There are many reasons to why solar power is beneficial to the environment, but there are also a handful of negative effects that prohibit the growth of this energy resource. It’s easy to tell the positive aspects of solar panels and their contribution to the world’s energy. Help the environment and economy by using solar panels!
